What is RDAP?

RDAP, or Registration Data Access Protocol, is a protocol designed to be the successor of WHOIS.
Its main advantage compared to WHOIS is to be standardized, thanks to the technical community of IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) which designed it and published many RFCs to define the behavior of RDAP (see Applicable RFC Standards section below).
Using JSON format, RDAP is perfectly structured and, thus, easily machine-readable.

Applicable RFC Standards

The OVH RDAP Service is implemented following the specifications and guidelines defined in the following standards:

• STD 95 — Registration Data Access Protocol (RDAP) Core Specifications
• RFC 7095 — jCard: The JSON Format for vCard
• RFC 8056 — Extensible Provisioning Protocol (EPP) and Registration Data Access Protocol (RDAP) Status Mapping
• RFC 9537 — Redacted Fields in the Registration Data Access Protocol (RDAP) Response

RDAP Client

OVHcloud does not provide any RDAP client. At this time, many RDAP clients are available. For example: https://client.rdap.org/
